The words for "The Lord's My Shepherd" come from Psalm 23 in the Old Testament, and are sung by both Jews and Christians. Crimond is a town in the North-East corner of Scotland (near Peterhead) and has given its name to the tune "Crimond" since it was composed by Jessie Seymour Irvine (1836 – 1887). She was the daughter of a church minister who served in a number of parishes in this part of Aberdeenshire in Scotland. Other composers who have set these words to music include Bach in the opening chorus to his Cantata No.112 "Der Herr ist mein getreuer Hirt" BWV 112 and Howard Goodall whose version was used as the theme music for the TV series "The Vicar of Dibley".
